With a vision to prepare our younger generations to succeed in this new world order, Woodlands school was inaugurated by Sh. G. Bala Subramanium, Director CBSE, New Delhi on 14th March, 2004.
WOS has been accredited as an International School by the U.S. Department State when students from Afghanistan China, Germany and intelligentsia team of 10 teachers and other senior officials from The U.S. Department of State, were received by Woodlands under an educative programme for 8 weeks. Woodlands partnered for the programme which was held for the first time in India since independence. This programme has been held twice at Woodlands. Intensive teacher training sessions as well as orientations for students were held. The inter change of culture values impinged everyone and we are progressive towards such programmes in near future.
WOS added another International feather in its cap when it hosted a special programme for 10 days for multi nation children. These children were from USA, Canada, Brazil, Austria, Sweden, Norway etc.
The brightest feather in the cap of Woodlands was added when the school was accredited as ‘Real Change Makers’ across India. The tag has been given to school at National level Green School Award for 2009, where it won 2nd position across India and 1st position in Punjab. More than 15000 top ranked schools across India participated in it.
The school bagged First position in Punjab and Fourth in India surpassing 5500 top ranking school nationwide for Green school Programme organized by Centre of Science and Environment in New Delhi. The achievement was applauded by honoring the school with an appreciation letter by the Cabinet Minister
Academic results of G-10 in the CBSE Board Exam in the session 2009 – 2010 was indeed a landmark achievement that Woodlands got as two of the children, Gurprem Singh, Supreet Kaur and Deeksha Rani got perfect 10 Grade in all the subjects. Over all 34 children got A1 Grade and the result was hundred percent. The brilliant academic result brought a proud moment for Woodlands.
The school has got another international acclaim as a German National students, Christianne Flammersfeld in year 2009 and Wulfkuhle Franziska and Scheffler Toni Josefine in the year 2010 have been chosen as an exchange students by the German Government who shall study at Woodlands for ten months, opening gateways for Woodlanders to directly go and study in World’s top schools as exchange students.
For shouldering the responsibility of creating global awareness among the children dedicatedly, the school Principal Ms. Simerjeet Kaur Gill has been honoured with appreciation award by the Cabinet Minister, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa.
WOS has achieved prodigious achievements not only in field education but also in fields of sports with a long medal tally at the International, National , State, District level Competitions/Championships.
A landmark achievement was made by Kuber Sood (G3) in the year 2005, who got the highest Grade in Computers and the highest score in International Assessment in all the participating countries, conducted by the “University of New South Wales, Australia.”
Angad Singh (G3) got the highest Grade in Science and the highest score in International Assessment – for Indian schools conducted by the Macmillan India Ltd.
Parvar Manocha and Piyush Jain won bronze Medal in 6th Intenational Indo Nepal Competition 2008.
Harmeet Kaur won Silver Medal at National Level, Gold medal at District level and Silver at State Level Judo Championships.
Kuljot Ahuja won Gold Medal in Indo Nepal Roller Ball Skating Championship.
In the year 2010 four of the Woodlanders have inscribed their name in the list of Swimming Championship held at District level bringing laurel to Woodlands – Sejvir (G5), Ishan (G2), Manav (G3) and Ashish Mehta (G4). They won 17 medals amongst them.
The Uni aimed approached Principal of Woodlands Overseas school was one of the four representatives from India who went for attending an international seminar on school management and leadership in children together with E-learning held in Malaysia. The project was all about the techno revolution in management and teaching strategies. Ms. Simer Gill, Principal was the only Indian to be honored by the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur.
Motivated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s message for a greater role by NR s in nation building a group of NR s led by Mr. D.S Dhillon of Porterville, U.S.A, which includes educationists, doctors and industialists from Fort Atkinson and Fresno in U.S.A, Canada and Singapore, has adopted Woodlands Overseas School here for financia,l logistic and international academic support.
WOS has now nationally been acclaimed as an eco friendly school but its yoke with NGO “SOCH” is also working to create awareness among the people on general social issues. It was elucidated by “Go Vote” campaign, held in Hoshiarpur. Banners and posters were put up in every corner of city. The Woodlands though under voting age limit but having substantial knowledge of our democratic system, made the people cognizant of their rights and duties. The demonstration was highly comprehended by public.

Such Parental Workshops by expert of Internationals acclaim are held which are rewarding for clearing up the wrong perceptions of parents whose children are growing in a powerful high teach age.
For a positive, balanced all round development of the children and to set a professional standard, the school has been sanctioned Troupe no.89 by the N.C.C Directorate which is a part of 12 Punjab Bn. Presently there are 25 cadets who have been trained for firing by the regular army staff.
