“Sports undoubtedly is an integral part of everyone’s life. It teaches how to play honestly, win honorably, lose gracefully, respect authority and learn the importance of time and focus while performing”.
Keeping this in view, Woodland lays humongous emphasis on Sports apart from academics. To commemorate the spirit of sports, a spectacular Green Olympics Week, which commenced at grand scale on Monday, 4th November 2019 culminated successfully on Saturday, 9th November 2019.
The valedictory function started with warm welcome to the Chief Guest, affable Mrs. and Mr. Paramjit Singh Sachdeva, social activist and renowned personality who is famous for rendering selfless services for the upliftment of underprivileged section of the society. As the function proceeded, adrenalines rushed through bodies and competitive spirit reached its pinnacle when final race of l00 mtr for G-6 to G-8 and G-9 to G-12 (boys/girls category) for choosing Fastest Woodlander in both categories was held. The winners of the same were Nitish Yadav and Siya Vaid in junior category and Summit Vaid and Akshita Sharma in senior category.
Fire House won Best House Trophy. All the winners of 100 mtr race were honored with trophies by the Chief Guest in the Prize Distribution Ceremony.
Cultural item enthralled everyone when melodious and motivational school song created magic in the ambience. Formal Flag retrieval ceremony was also held in which the Sheriff formally handed over the school flag to the Principal.
In his message, Chief Guest mentioned “Iron rusts by disuse, stagnant water loses its purity, so does inaction sap the vigor’s of the mind.” That is why body and mind should always be kept active and energetic by participating in sports enthusiastically.
At the end, exuberant Dean Dr. Simerjeet Kaur congratulated all the winners and thanked the coaches, support staffs and the volunteers for their tireless efforts, hard work and strategic planning in ensuring smooth and fair conduct of sports event. The fun filled Woodland Green Olympics came to an end with an ode to our country by singing National Anthem with pride and honor.
